Our class does a lot of things. We have radios, morning announcements and so much more. Not only from media have I learned how to do all this stuff and only used it only in school, but I use it outside of school.
One important thing that media has taught me is that you should always treat people with kindness and love even when they drive you crazy. In media I don't only learn media things, but I have learned tips and important life lessons. I know that this doesn't really have anything to do with how I use media to help me, but this is something that I have learned from this class and it has helped me a lot so far.
Another way that I can use my media skills to help me with things outside of the classroom is learn how to have more confidence in myself when I call businesses or older people that I need to ask a favor of. My parents are always making me talk to people at church or at birthday parties. I used to not know what to say because I didn't want to offend them, but now I know that you have to be confident in yourself.
Finally, I learned that you have to put certain things first. For example, you might have a soccer game or dance recital on the same day that you have a media event. You have to choose one. Sometimes you have to give up things for media.
In conclusion, media has taught me so many things. It has taught me to
This year has gone by so fast! I can't believe that it's already fourth quarter! Our next media event that we all have to be at is Family Night. Family Night is when everyone and their families get together and we eat dinner. Then we each get to share one of the videos that we made from this year. I want to share Jasmine, Natalie and my vaping PSA.
One reason why I want share the vaping PSA is because it's one of the first PSA's that I made. I think that it turned out pretty good. I hope that I can show this to my family so that they can see something that I have done.
Next, I would also like to share my vaping PSA because vaping is a big issue with teens. I think that kids need to know that they don't need to vape or smoke to be cool. Also, people need to realize that they can't trust everything that they read off the internet or see on TV.
Finally, I should share the PSA because I had a lot of fun making this video with my teammates. We worked together well and didn't fight. I hope that Natalie, Jasmine and I get to work together again!
In conclusion, I am so excited for Family Night! I would love to share the vaping PSA that Natalie, Jasmine and I made because we worked together well, it has an important message and it turned out to be a pretty good video. I wonder what video everyone else will be sharing? I hope that my family likes the PSA!
How are you guys? Today I will be writing about STN and reflecting over my experience. I'll be talking about things that I wish I could do better. I will also be talking about things that I am proud of myself for doing and what I learned.
First, we all had so much fun on the trip! We got super close from spending two weeks non stop with each other. One of the most fun things that we did was play in the snow in Boston. I loved seeing the snow fall from the sky.
Next, something that I'm not very proud of myself was when I forgot the laptop. I learned that you should always double check your equipment before leaving because every piece of equipment is so important. Also, when I forgot the laptop it affected a lot of people.
Finally, another part of the trip that I enjoyed was the closing ceremony. I didn't think that we were going to place in PSA.. I will also always remember when they announce that Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School won first place for Crazy 8s in the Broadcast and News Magazine category!
In conclusion, I had an amazing time on this years STN trip! I learned lots of things. I am looking forward to next years STN trip because now I know where I can improve!
Today was the first day of competition. I was apart of the Crazy 8s News Magazine competition. I woke up at 7am in the morning and we were in the ballroom at 8am. The topic was " Rock This Town"! It took us about two hours to get some what of an idea. Shayne was my partner and our plan was to go to Downtown Nashville to find a bar that would let us interview them. We got an Uber and we didn't get there until 11am. The first few bars that we went to had kids from STN crowding in trying to get stories. So we went into a couple of stores, but they all said that they had already been interviewed. We were starting to wonder when we would find a story. Then this security guard came up to us and told us to go to this snack shop place. We ended up going there and we interviewed the worker. She was very friendly. It was strange because the snack shop was actually located inside of a bar and the bar had a door that led to a pizza place. So, we interviewed one of the cooks. After we interviewed them they gave us a free pizza that they had just freshly baked. It was amazing! It tasted so good! Then, we were done shooting all our B- roll and shots that we needed for our story, but then I got a text from my team mates saying that they needed us to film B- roll and standups for them. So we did, but we were supposed to be back in the ballroom by noon. Unfortunately, we didn't get back until 1:00 so we only had two hours to edit our story and then we had to give it to our other team mates to edit in to the whole big thing. Once Shayne and I finished editing it was 2:30 and we gave our story to our team mates and then we edited the standups that we filmed. By the time we finished editing the standups it was around 3:10 and the other kids edited it into the final piece. We made final touches and got it into the bin on time! After Crazy 8s we all walked back to the hotel to get our gifts for our pen pals. After that, we walked back down from our hotel room and exchanged gifts with them. Next, we walked to the mall for dinner with Castaic. My pen pals name is Faith. She is funny and nice! I liked hanging out with her. After dinner we walked back to the hotel and we went to the Opening Ceremony for STN!!! At the Opening Ceremony we listened to the student of the year give advice and stories about her experiences at STN. After the ceremony we went back to the hotel rooms, got ready for bed and did our blogs and card. Bye for today!
What's up guys!? Today we woke up early and then we had breakfast! We took an Uber to Studio B. It's a very old studio! Even Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton recorded songs there. They showed us the style of music that was recorded there. Then they showed us the recording studio. That place was super cool! Next, we had some time to kill so we went back to the Country Hall of Fame and went to the gift shop. I got a cowbell!! Then we walked in Downtown Nashville and went into a big candy store that was filled with caramel apples, homemade ice cream, different kinds of chocolate, and so much more! I decided to get the peanut butter ice cream. It was so creamy and yummy! We walked around and looked at a bunch of different shops. Later on we went to The Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. I got the kids fettuccine Alfredo, but I didn't finish it. After lunch we walked around some more and then we walked across the bridge to go to the The Tennessee Titans Nissan Stadium. We hung around the stadium and then we went into the team store until it was time for our tour. The tour lasted about an hour, but the lady that gave us the tour was very kind and we even got to go inside the locker room and see Marcus Mariota's locker. It was so cool! Then, we walked to the Wild Horse Saloon. There was a live band called Two Way Crossing. We got to meet our pen pals and line dance with them. My pen pals name was Faith. She is very nice and she enjoys riding horses. At about 8 o'clock we left and went back to the hotel. That was the end of Wednesday.
So we had a really big day today! First, we woke up at 7:30 in the morning then we met everyone downstairs at 8:30. We walked to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I got french toast with eggs and bacon. It was so delicious! After that we walked back to the hotel and waited for our ride. Wainae gave us a Country Hall of Fame Museum. It was really cool because we got to see some of the cars and outfits that country singers have owned! Then we got a tour of the Predators stadium. I got to learn why they are called the Nashville Predators and that Carrie Underwood's husband is Mike Fisher who is a professional hockey player. The tour lasted for about an hour and we were hungry for lunch so we went to a pizza place, but we had to walk for 25 minuets to get there. Anyways, the pizza ended up tasting super great. At like 5 o' clock we started to walk back and when we got there we looked at some shops and then the game started. It was so much fun because they had big lights and music. We then went back to the hotel room and went to bed. Today was so much fun! I can't wait for tomorrow!
Hey everybody! Today I will be writing about my new goals for this quarter. I would say that I accomplished most of my goals from last quarter, but this quarter I will try my best accomplish my goals!
My First goal is to not procrastinate. I feel like everyone in media does this and even though I have put this in my new goals blog post for each quarter, I really think that I will be able to accomplish it. Even if I don't stop procrastinating I hope that I will be able to do it less.
Secondly, I would like to take my projects from as Mr. M says, " Good to Great" For example, when I have made a video and done it for a project and then I get it done by the deadline. When we go over it and see what we could do to make it better, I should take the initiative and make the corrections.
Lastly, I would like to start taking more initiative when it comes to media. Even though I am a beginner I would like to start taking the initiative to help my media partners with doing more on our projects. I would also like to start taking advantage of these great opportunities that media allows me to have.
In conclusion, I really hope that I can get better at these thing. I believe that if I put my mind to these things than maybe I can accomplish my goals. Hopefully by next time I write this blog I will be making totally different goals!
Hey Guys, this week Mr. M asked us to write about things that we are thankful for. There are so many things that I am thankful for. There is at least one thing that we all are thankful for, but here are some things that I am thankful for.
First of all, I am thankful for my family. I am so lucky to have people that I can trust and rely on. I wouldn't replace my family for anybody else in the world. I am so fortunate to have people that love and care for me.
I am also so thankful for my friends. I love that I have people that I can talk to about anything and that will have my back no matter what. I mean that's what friends are for, right? I am so happy that I have such great friends!
Last but not least, I am thankful for food. I am so lucky to have food for me to eat for every meal. Especially since there are kids in the world that would give anything just to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Meanwhile, we don't really care and we are so unaware of the kids that want to eat, but can not.
In conclusion, there are lots of things that we have to be thankful for. Three things that I am thankful for are family, friends, and food. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Hi again! Today Mr. M asked us to write about our new goals for quarter two. I'm really excited to talk about my new goals because I have quite a few. Anyways, lets get going!
So, last quarter I said that I wanted to get better at radio's and not procrastinate when it comes to that. I think that I have gotten better at radio's because they were on time and we didn't have to fix anything.
For this quarter I would like to get better at updating my website by uploading my videos and scripts. I have a really bad memory so I need to find a way to remember. So one of my goals for this year is to write reminders somewhere that I can look at to remind me to finish projects and get them in on time.
I also need to be more open to share my ideas for our project. I have good ideas I just need to speak up more. I will work on sharing my ideas and have confidence that they are good, but even if they aren't that is okay because people will give you feedback and you can improve and make them better.
These are my goals for the new quarter! I hope that I will be able to accomplish them all. I am so excited for this quarter so that I can learn more and improve.
Hello again, everyone! This is now my second blog and Mr. M has asked us to write about our toughest challenge in media of having a smaller class this year since we only have thirteen students. So, here are some things that have been the hardest for me so far.
As I said in my last blog this is my first year in media so I'm just getting used to the work load, but one of the hardest things about having a small class is that now we have way more inside scoops. At least that is what I have been told. Personally, I don't really like inside scoops because when you think you are done there are usually still mistakes in them and sometimes you have to record them again and then they are late. So I really need to work on double checking my work before I turn it in.
Another challenging thing about having only thirteen students is I feel that the work is doubled since last year their were probably twice as much kids in the class. Now for interviews, morning announcements, inside scoops, and etc.
As far as the work load I think that it is pretty good. Plus, Mr. M gives us good deadlines so we have a nice amount of time to get things done. It can still be stressful, but I guess that stress is just apart of media.
In conclusion, media is very small this year because we only have thirteen students. I think that it will be more work and stress this year than last year. I will be challenging, but that is why we have each other.
Hi, My name is Halea! I like to make and edit videos, and spend time with my family and friends.
